A few comments from our guests...

Dear Sheila,

Just to let you know we had a great time. Jim was very taken with the house and the quaintness of it. We had great walks and took a stroll down the road beside the house and a local woman came out to us and walked us back up the road talking all the time and we hadn't a clue what she was saying a pity. We laughed about it.

We really enjoyed our stay. The villa was in such a beautiful, peaceful location that we relaxed instantly. We would have liked to have stayed for another week! The size of the pool allowed us all to play games together. We loved the location, being close to the village with easy access to the coast. Many thanks for a wonderful holiday.

The villa is in a wonderful peaceful location. Remco (the villa agent) is a hive of knowledge on all the local restaurants and Sao (the housekeeper) is extremely helpful. I always enjoy Casa Nova and find it perfect for chilling out.

Casa das Figueiras was wonderful. The setting is superb - so quiet and private and totally relaxing. The house and garden are comfortable and equipped with everything you could need. We really enjoyed foraging for wood and reading in front of the fire of an evening after a day's walking or at the beach. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

"Roses in the algarve!!! and of course, bougainvillea, oleander and jasmine, etc. All these surrounding the swimming pools in both glorious gardens of Casa Nova and Casa das Figueiras. The villas overlook natural fields nestled within the peaceful countryside of the Algarve and both houses benefit from fabulous views.

Over the years, I've studied many a script and learned a few new songs in the peace of both these delightful villas. I have also shared many family and social gatherings with friends in the lovely reception areas. Quietude. Relaxation and fun times. All memories of happy and healthy hol's in Boliqueime. Happy holiday to you too."

Dear Sheila,

Having just spent 8 wonderful relaxing days & nights at Casa das Figueiras, I wish on behalf of our group, to congratulate you for creating such an oasis of tranquility away from the maelstrom which is 'real life'. We all said it was one of the best holidays any of us could remember.
The villa itself provided rustic homeliness with an individual charm. Its location is ideal for that get away from it all feeling.
The pool was stunning. With four dining areas outside and one inside we were spoilt for choice, in the end we dined in them all. The garden was superb.
It ticked all the boxes and we could not of asked for anything more. we hope to return in 2007. Thank you.

Dear Sheila
I am sitting here under the gazebo sipping fresh coffee and looking at the stunning view of the ocean. The birds are singing and the sun´s reflection is bouncing off the pool. I am so happy here. I always try to think of a way we can all relocate.
Thank you for being part of creating such wonderful memories for my family and I.

Dear Sheila,
We just wanted to let you know that we have fallen in love with Casa das Figueiras. The villa is so pretty and comfortable and the rural setting is delightful. We did some exploring at the beginning of our holiday to some of the beautiful nearby beaches, but by the second week we were spending most of our time at 'home' in Boliqueime. We regularly enjoyed a morning walk through the lanes into the village for coffee. Most afternoons we spent relaxing by the pool, followed by a great evening meal in one of the local restaurants. We will definitely be back next year!

Casa Nova is a beautiful villa in a secluded area with lovely views of the surrounding countryside and sea from the rooftop terrace . The  nearby village of Boliqueime has several good restaurants,  bars , a bank, pharmacy, shops  and a railway station (access to Faro, Lagos and Lisbon) . The maid was friendly and efficient.

Eating out

“Just down into the beautiful village of Boliqueime is the simple but charming restaurant  Palacio de Piri-piri otherwise “Chicken Palace”.This restaurant has a deep well in its centre with pet fish swimming, lit up by lights. Children love it! From the large windows is a panoramic vista of the coast.  I've enjoyed many memorable evenings in this lively restaurant, savouring delicious aromatic platters of spicy chicken accompanied by freshly dressed salad and chips .As well as a range of wines on offer (including Cliff Richard's very own) there is a speciality of succulent steaks and dishes of the day.

Another favourite a short distance from the village is “O Patio das Laranjeiras ” whose walls bear antique farming implements, reminders of Portugal's agricultural past. This restaurant serves a range of seafood dishes as well as chargrills and casseroles.”

The House Of Figs has provided many long term memories for me. These include the wonderful local village with "up the stairs" bar. the memorable point here is the genuine welcome  from the Portuguese owner. The happy nights in the "Bamboo" restaurant, and the disbelief that such lovely food is so cheap, and again the welcome from the owner ALEX must not be missed. You may even be fortunate enough to meet Mr. Clive Dunn on one of his regular visits to the "Bamboo".
Best Wishes for a happy Holiday!
